👨‍🍳 Method
  1. 1Heat oil in a large casserole dish over high heat. Brown beef mince in batches.
  2. 2Add chopped onions, carrots, and celery. Cook for 5 minutes.
  3. 3Stir in tomato purée and flour, cook for 1 minute.
  4. 4Add beef stock and tinned tomatoes. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer.
  5. 5Cook on low heat for 30 minutes with lid on.
  6. 6Meanwhile, make dumpling dough: mix plain flour, butter (cold, grated), and a pinch of salt with enough cold water to form a soft dough.
  7. 7Roll into 8 small dumplings.
  8. 8Drop dumplings into the stew, cover and cook for 20 minutes without lifting the lid.
  9. 9Serve immediately in deep bowls.
